UTA Edenred is one of Europe’s leading mobility service providers. With a strong acceptance network across Europe and a range of services that go far beyond fueling -such as toll payments, EV charging, vehicle services, and VAT recovery – UTA ensures seamless on-the-road support for fleets of all sizes. Handling tens of thousands of customer payments each month in multiple currencies and across various banking relationships, UTA needed a future-ready solution to manage its increasingly complex cash application processes.
A complex financial landscape
UTA’s operational scale is vast and so is its financial complexity. Prior to their transformation, the company processed approximately 50,000-60,000 incoming payments monthly; totaling up to €250 million. While only 15% of customers made direct bank transfers, they represented the bulk of the total payment volume. And these transactions spanned 40 bank accounts in 11 currencies, which originate from numerous European markets. All of which creates a recipe for difficult, time consuming, and heavily manual cash application processes.
As UTA expanded its services to include vehicles under 3.5 tons and onboarded many more SME clients, this complexity increased significantly. Manual processes and legacy systems could no longer keep up. Especially with business-critical requirements like maintaining customer credit limits in real time. A missed or delayed payment allocation could result in a customer’s fuel card being declined—something UTA couldn’t risk if it was to maintain good relationships and smooth operations.
Beyond all this, external factors like the mandatory migration to ISO 20022 payment messages and an internal ERP transition increased the urgency of implementing a flexible, scalable, and future-ready solution.

Having worked with Serrala’s solutions since 2017, UTA saw an opportunity to elevate their operations further with our Alevate AR Cash Application offering.
UTA picked Alevate AR Cash Application to automate the bulk of their manual remittance management efforts because it’s built precisely to handle these kinds of complex receivables needs. It offers advanced automation, multi-bank compatibility, and makes processing high transaction volumes simple and reliable, without the need for multiple checks and verifications.
The selection process involved detailed comparison with other solutions and was closely aligned with UTA’s parent company, Edenred. Several key factors led to Serrala being selected again. Most importantly, we were able to cover all their requirements, including providing much needed automated multi-currency support, high transaction volumes, and remittance advice processing. Serrala’s cloud-native nature and infinite scalability could also support UTA’s upcoming ERP migration. And as a long-standing and reliable partner with a history of successfully simplifying and streamlining AR processes, Serrala offered confidence in execution and a proven record in complex, international finance environments.
UTA chose to first implement account statement processing, and followed this with the integration of remittance advices. The phased approach ensured their team could validate improvements early while planning for future enhancements and identifying potential areas for further automation.
